Deadline Extended!
AAMN's 'Art of Nursing' Contest
Purpose
This project aims to affect the image of nursing and the impact nurses have on our communities. The image of this project will be to base the success of a great nurse on certain characteristics unrelated to race, gender or ethnicity. This will result in a more inclusive environment for all individuals who wish to consider nursing as a profession.
Objective
AAMN chapters will collaborate with local art departments within the university community, local artists, or even a talented AAMN member to commission artwork. The artwork will aim to depict a new and inclusive image of nursing.

Up to 10 works of art will be selected as finalist entries by a panel of judges appointed by AAMN. The pieces will be duplicated for display, with one version to be displayed at the college of nursing/health system and one version for a silent auction at the National AAMN Conference.
The 10 Finalist Chapters will receive an award from AAMN recognizing their commitment to a new image of nursing and receive up to 10 free National Memberships to disperse to chapter members.
The finalists will be voted on at the national conference for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st-3rd Place finishers, in addition to the finalist recognition above defined by the Awards Committee.
The AAMN: Art of Nursing competition is open to all national recognized AAMN chapters including university-based and health system-based chapters.

Selection Criteria
Finalists are selected utilizing an objective rubric-criteria blind review based on the following aspects of the art piece:

Creativity
There is no limitation in the type of medium to depict the nursing profession in the 21st Century. AAMN is looking for unique ideas and expressions to display the caring the nursing provides to communities.

Diversity/Inclusion Elements
The art piece must be inclusive by definition that anyone with the passion, potential skill set and values that represent the nursing profession can see a reflection of themselves. The goal is that nursing is based on characteristics and should not be identified by a person’s gender, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

Depiction of Caregiving
The depiction of “caring” is very complex in nature. AAMN is looking for each submission to reflect on the definition of caregiving and how this relationship between nurses and patients can be expressed through art.
