Welcome to the American Assembly for Men in Nursing Mentoring Program
What is the Mentoring Program?
The philosophy of the Program is based on the premises that:
This mentoring program will be accepting applications from AAMN members in January and February, 2013, so, get your application in early. There will be no charge to the participants. Each participant will be provided resources that will assist them as they develop their mentor-mentee relationship.
Below, please find the link to both the Mentor and Mentee Application form. Once it has completed, submitted to the Mentorship Task Force for review, and you have been selected to participate in the AAMN Mentorship program, you will be given instructions as to how to access the materials on the web site. We thank you for your interest in the program and look forward to providing this service to the AAMN Membership.
The structure of this program is adapted from and informed by the work of Lois Zachary, author of " The Mentor's Guide ". There are brief readings and exercises that both you and your mentee can consider reviewing in each of the 4 phases of the program that come from Dr. Zachary's work. The full reference for her text is Zachary, L. (2000)." The Mentor's Guide: Facilitating effective learning relationships ". San Francisco, CA: Jossey-Bass. (ISBN 0-7879-4742-3).
In addition to the electronic materials provided, there is a mentoring booklet by Linda Phillip-Jones from The Mentoring Group that mentors and mentees can request. If you would like one of these booklets, please let us know. We will only be sending them out by request. Once accepted into the program, you can make your request to pwilliams@aamn.org.
