IOM Future of Nursing report released in hard cover The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health, released by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in October 2010, is now available in hardcover. The Committee on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Initiative on the Future of Nursing, at the IOM, examined the capacity of the nursing workforce to meet the demands of a reformed health care and public health system. In its report, the committee offers recommendations that collectively serve as an action-oriented blueprint to ensure that nurses can practice to the full extent of their education and training, improve nursing education, provide opportunities for nurses to assume leadership positions and to serve as full partners in health care redesign and improvement efforts, and improve data collection for workforce planning and policy making. At the close of the IOM committee's study and the report's release, RWJF launched the Initiative on the Future of Nursing Campaign for Action to implement solutions to the challenges that face the nursing profession.
